An international webinar to launch a major report on the fight against sickle cell disease in French-speaking Africa

On Wednesday 22 April 2026, the Global Coalition Against Sickle Cell Disease organised a webinar dedicated to the official launch of its new report entitled ‘Combating Sickle Cell Disease: Initiatives and Prospects in French-speaking Africa’. This online event brought together experts, healthcare professionals and stakeholders united by a common goal: to advance the fight against this genetic disease, which remains all too little known.

Potential for a large-scale newborn screening strategy for sickle cell disease in Mali: A comparative diagnostic performance study of two rapid diagnostic tests (SickleScan® and HemotypeSC®) on cord blood

This study was carried out in Mali in partnership with the CRLD (Centre de Recherche et de Lutte contre la Drépanocytose), the maternity wards of the IV and V IV of Bamako and the Kayes maternity hospital, UMR 1295 Inserm of Toulouse and Fondation Mérieux, under the coordination of Fondation Pierre Fabre.
