Albinism Awareness Toolbox

Would you like to learn more about albinism? Do you run awareness-raising sessions on this genetic condition?
This page is dedicated to providing information and awareness materials on albinism. You can consult and download resources tailored to your needs.

Why is there still a need for more information about albinism?

Albinism is a genetic condition that results in the absence of melanin in the skin, hair and/or eyes. Because of this condition, people with albinism are extremely sensitive to the sun’s rays and highly susceptible to developing skin cancers. To limit the risks of exposure, there are simple protective measures that need to be known.

The widespread lack of knowledge about albinism contributes to the dissemination of false information and the persistence of myths and beliefs that are at the root of discrimination and human rights violations against people with albinism. Given this situation, there is a need to raise awareness to disseminate scientifically verified information on albinism and promote a better understanding of this genetic condition.
