Design of new awareness-raising and information materials on albinism
27/08/2025
As part of the APPASAAS project, the Fondation Pierre Fabre is contributing to the dissemination of appropriate educational information to improve the protection, inclusion, and care of persons with albinism in sub-Saharan Africa. There is still a need to raise awareness of this genetic condition to promote best protection practices, improve access to healthcare and rights, and dispel myths and misconceptions.
In collaboration with associations of persons with albinism and stakeholders defending their rights, the project team organized a series of brainstorming workshops, writing sessions and consultation meetings, resulting in the creation of two new awareness-raising materials on albinism:
- An awareness-raising poster for schools and health centers
- An information brochure for healthcare professionals and families
These tools, tailored to the needs and practices of local organizations, provide simple and scientifically verified information. Currently available in French and English, they will soon be translated into six local African languages to reach a wider audience.
You can consult and download these materials from the online albinism awareness toolbox on the Fondation Pierre Fabre website: Albinism Awareness Toolbox – Fondation Pierre Fabre
