The gathering was part of World Sickle Cell Day, a United Nations initiative that is held annually on 19 June.<\/p>\n<p>The objective was to take stock of the state and specificities of the sickle cell disease in sub-Saharan Africa and establish the foundations of a South-South-North cooperation to address the disease.<\/p>\n<\/div><div class=\"fusion-sep-clear\"><\/div><div class=\"fusion-separator fusion-full-width-sep\" style=\"margin-left: auto;margin-right: auto;margin-top:8px;margin-bottom:7px;width:100%;\"><\/div><div class=\"fusion-sep-clear\"><\/div><div
