12/28/2015

The Prix de la Fondation Pierre Fabre was awarded for the first time by the Académie des Sciences, Inscriptions et Belles-Lettres in Toulouse.

The new prize from the prestigious French academy recognises work in pharmaceutical innovation, particularly in the field of tropical diseases.

Each year, the Académie des Sciences, Inscriptions et Belles-Lettres in Toulouse hands out awards in the form of medals, diplomas and grants, intended primarily to encourage young talents in their work. This year, for the first time, the Prix de la Fondation Pierre Fabre for “pharmaceutical innovation, particularly in tropical diseases” was awarded during a solemn ceremony at the Hôtel Assézat in Toulouse on Sunday, 6 December 2015.

The award goes to Ms Claire Lastrucci for her doctoral thesis work at the Université Paul Sabatier in “polarisation and the role of macrophages in acute and chronic inflammatory contexts”, especially in cases of Mycobacterium tuberculosis infection.
